Empowering Creativity Through Visual Art with Mindfulness

This workshop is designed for both children and adults to unlock their potential in creating exceptional visual art by tapping into the power of mindfulness.

Through a guided process of observing body sensations, cultivating intention through breathwork, and developing awareness to witness your thoughts, participants will engage in mindful practices that lead directly to deeper, authentic creativity.

This isn’t just an art class; it’s a transformative experience where mindfulness becomes the foundation for artistic expression. By quieting the mind and allowing yourself to connect with deeper emotions, you’ll gain access to new perspectives and creative insights, which naturally enhance your ability to create visually compelling and meaningful art.

Mindfulness practices have been shown to improve focus, increase emotional intelligence, and unlock cognitive flexibility—all essential elements for artistic innovation. In this workshop, you’ll discover how these techniques open the door to creative flow, helping you to break through creative blocks and produce artwork that is truly reflective of your innermost self.

While resources and tools for art-making may be finite, this workshop will show you that creativity is boundless. By fostering a deep connection within, you’ll not only grow as an artist but also create work that is authentic, original, and deeply resonant.

1. Center Yourself with Breathwork
Start by calming your mind with intentional breathing. Practice deep, mindful breaths for 3–5 minutes. This helps bring you into the present moment and fosters a clear and focused mind for creativity.

2. Tune into Bodily Sensations
After breathwork, pay attention to your body. Notice how you feel—whether tension, warmth, or a sense of stillness. Allow these sensations to guide your creative intuition without overthinking them.

3. Mindful Observation
Practice observing your surroundings, thoughts, or emotions for a few minutes without judgment. Notice small details, patterns, or shifts in your internal state. This step helps sharpen your awareness and sensitivity as an artist.

4. Express Observations Visually
Take the sensations and observations you’ve gathered and begin sketching or painting them without concern for form or perfection. Use colors, shapes, or textures that feel connected to your inner experience.

5. Let Go Through Breath and Art
As you create, continue using breath to guide the process. If you find yourself getting stuck or tense, return to your breathing and let go of control. Allow your art to flow naturally, even if it feels messy or unconventional.

6. Reflect on Your Work
After a session, take time to reflect on what you’ve created. What do you see in the artwork? How does it relate to your inner sensations and thoughts? Reflecting helps deepen your connection to both your art and your inner world.

7. Observe Emotions from a Distance
Finally, practice stepping back from your emotions, viewing them with objectivity. This practice helps keep your emotions from overpowering your creative process and allows you to express them more authentically in your work.

About Me:

As a fine artist and professional CGI artist with experience working on over 20 Hollywood films, including Frozen 2, Kung Fu Panda, and most recently SpongeBob Kamp Koral, I bring a unique blend of expertise to my teaching.

I work with small groups to provide personalized attention, ensuring each student can explore their own creative journey in depth. Through a combination of traditional fine art techniques and digital artistry, I guide students in expressing their authentic selves, unlocking new levels of creativity in every project. Whether you’re delving into oil painting, digital art, or CGI, the learning experience is tailored to inspire and challenge you in exciting ways!

My teaching approach blends visual art techniques with mindfulness practices, rooted in the belief that authentic creativity stems from recognizing and understanding your emotions and intentions. By engaging with the full spectrum of your emotional experience—acknowledging what serves you and releasing what doesn’t—you’ll unlock your true creative potential. This practice helps reflect your unique emotions and thoughts in your art, allowing your authentic artistic voice to shine through.

My goal is to guide you on this journey, ensuring that each piece you create is a true expression of your inner vision.
